Low-Wage LMIA Update: New CMA Unemployment Rules Effective July 10, 2026

The Government of Canada has updated the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program rules for low-wage LMIA applications.

Effective Period: July 10, 2026 – October 8, 2026

Employers may not be able to receive a positive Low-Wage LMIA if the job is located in a Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) where the unemployment rate is 6.0% or higher, unless an exemption applies.
